Open Belgium Championships

19/05/2011 12:06

The water sport center VVW Heist organised the Open Belgium Championships this year. We know that these events are really good and the people very nice, so we decided to go for the weekend. The wind was perfect for racing. Light, but suitable. The Belgium guys were well prepared this year. Everyone had a decent race board and big kites.

The first day we had 4 races in a row. Quite challenging for the legs, I can say. The first race was long, because of the light wind and the current. Rolf was fast as usual, which made it hard for the other guys to finish in time. Only me and Wim van Bever finished within the time limit.  So the other races Rolf was so kind to wait before the finish line for the second person.
The second day the wind was stronger, so the differences between the racers were smaller. Great fun to race today! I was even able to stay in front of Rolf one round, but had to let him go in the second. So in the end Rolf won all 8 races and I became second in 6 of them.
Cool to end up second in a guys fleet! ;-)
